FSBPT's telehealth paper gives physical therapy boards recommendations for regulating care delivered by physical therapists and assistants over electronic communications, updated in 2023 to reflect digital practice and the changes that followed the pandemic.

Its guidelines cover responsibility for appropriate technology, verifying the patient's identity, informed consent (including telling patients that telehealth cannot include a hands-on examination or treatment), the provider-patient relationship, scope of practice, licensure, standards of care equal to in-person care, supervision, privacy and security of records, and procedures for emergencies and patient safety.
