NBCE's seventh national practice analysis surveyed chiropractors in 2024 across all states, DC and the territories, with 3,876 included in the final analysis. It describes what chiropractors do and how often, and its importance ratings shape the content of NBCE's Part III and Part IV licensure exams.

Most chiropractors work in private practice: about half in solo offices, a little over a third in practices with several chiropractors, and about 12% in multidisciplinary settings. Women make up about 30% of the profession but close to half of the newest graduates.

The conditions chiropractors report managing most often are acute and chronic back and neck pain, spinal and extremity joint dysfunction, pain and postural syndromes, developmental spinal deformities such as scoliosis, traumatic injuries such as sprains, strains and whiplash, and nerve and joint pain including disc problems and headaches. They also co-manage and refer patients with other conditions.
