What it says

We summarize in our own words and never reproduce the text. For anything you act on, read the original.

The 2020 Code of Ethics was the American Occupational Therapy Association's ethical standard for its members: occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and students. It was written to reflect a changing profession and health care system and the ethical questions new technologies raise in practice, research, education and policy.

It commits members to inclusion, participation, safety and well-being for everyone they serve, at every stage of life, health and illness, whether the client is a person, a group, a family, an organization, a community or a population. It has been replaced by the 2025 edition.
