What it says

We summarize in our own words and never reproduce the text. For anything you act on, read the original.

The 2025 Code of Ethics is the American Occupational Therapy Association's current ethical standard for occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants and students who are members, replacing the 2020 edition.

Like its predecessor, it is written for a changing profession and health care landscape, and it names emerging technologies as a source of ethical questions in practice, research, education and policy. It commits members to inclusion, equity, participation, safety and well-being for all, across diverse identities, abilities and circumstances, and to helping every person, group, family, organization, community or population they serve reach its occupational goals.
